WELCOME
Welcome to the home of National Voluntary Civil Aid Services (NVCAS) Registered Charity 266349 - known proudly as Civil Aid - established in 1968 by former members of the Civil Defence Corps and allied services. For more than half a century, Civil Aid has carried forward the skills, ethos and public service commitment that defined Britain’s civil defence tradition.
ABOUT US
Today, as the UK renews its focus on preparedness and whole-of-society resilience, Civil Aid stands as a link between the nation's civil defence heritage and the modern civil protection landscape.
Our Mission Statement
Honouring the past. Informing the future.
To preserve and promote the legacy of Britain's community resilience by safeguarding our unique historical archives and expertise, while continuing to support the evolution of emergency preparedness and the relief of suffering through knowledge-sharing and strategic partnerships.
The Core Pillars
Heritage Preservation: Protecting a wealth of knowledge, archive materials, and specialised equipment gathered since 1968 to ensure the history of Civil Aid remains accessible to future generations.
Knowledge Transfer: Transforming from an operational unit model into a resource hub for those interested in Community Resilience, Civil Defence, and Civil Protection.
Active Support: Maintaining the core principle of providing aid and assistance by supporting modern initiatives and collaborating with academic and professional bodies.
